Lake Norman is located just 20 minutes north of Charlotte. It was originally created by Duke Energy in 1959 by building the Cowans Ford dam to produce a resource for the nearby power plants.
The lake is home to many types of fish and wildlife, and is welcoming to fisherman and boaters. There are several marinas, as well as private boat slips peppered along the lake’s shoreline. Lake Norman has numerous public parks, many of which offer public lake access!
