You’ve made it! The due diligence requests have been completed, the buyers secured their loan, and now it’s time to sign the final paperwork at the attorneys office! The attorney will wire your proceeds and someone will deliver the keys to the buyers once the title has been recorded. This step is the easiest of them all, just show up and sign your paperwork.
Sometimes your attorney will ask if you’d like to pre-sign or sign your closing paperwork early. This is usually a faster process since you can show up, sign your papers, and head out. You won’t meet the new buyers, but maybe you don’t necessarily care about that. If not, consider asking your closing attorney if you can come in early and sign your documents. If you chose to do this, your money will be wired after the buyers have signed and their loan has been sent to the attorney’s office.
Going from closing to buying your new house is probably already under way. There’s a good chance you’ve began to calculate your proceeds and determine how to use them towards your next home.
